What to expect from xfiles, and your responsibilities when using its tools.
Keep your originals, check your results, and only process content you have the right to use.
Using xfiles
These terms apply to the xfiles website and its installed browser app, operated by Nihal Gupta. By using xfiles, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service. Questions can be sent to nihalgupta140@gmail.com.
Your files and responsibilities
You retain your rights in the files and content you process. Using xfiles does not transfer ownership of your content to us. You are responsible for having the permissions needed to process, modify and share your files and generated output.
Use the service lawfully. Do not use it to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, distribute unlawful content, impersonate someone deceptively, interfere with the website, or attempt unauthorized access to systems. You are responsible for keeping backups and reviewing your results before relying on or sharing them.
Tool limitations and generated output
Conversions can change formatting, quality, metadata or file features. PDF compression can remove selectable text, forms and links. Cropping changes the visible area of a PDF and is not secure redaction. Audio transcription, text extraction and generated speech can contain mistakes and must be reviewed.
The tools are general-purpose utilities, not professional advice or a guarantee that a document is accurate, legally effective, secure or suitable for a particular purpose. xfiles does not automatically add a branding watermark; tools that let you add your own watermark do so at your direction.
Local processing and app access
File processing takes place in your browser as described in our Privacy Policy. Performance and availability depend on your device, browser, file size and available storage. An internet connection is needed to open the website or installed app and load its tools. Optional audio tools require model and runtime downloads first. Launching the installed app requests the current website and may replace an existing app window’s unsaved work. Download results before closing or relaunching the app.
Third-party software, models and services
xfiles uses third-party open-source software, fonts and optional models. Those components remain subject to their respective licenses and notices. These terms do not replace those licenses or limit rights they grant you.
External download providers, linked websites and donation services have their own terms. Their availability, policies and behavior are outside our control. You remain responsible for ensuring that your use of generated content respects applicable rights and laws.
Free tools and voluntary support
The current tools are available without a subscription. Donations are voluntary and are processed by the linked support provider. A donation does not purchase a feature, ownership interest, priority service or availability guarantee. Questions about a donation can be sent to nihalgupta140@gmail.com; payment disputes and refunds are also subject to the provider’s terms and applicable law.
Availability and warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, xfiles is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted, error-free operation. Features may be changed, suspended or discontinued. Download results and keep copies of original files before leaving a tool or updating the app.
Limits of liability and your legal rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or loss of data arising from use of or inability to use xfiles. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights and remedies available to you.
Updates and contact
We may revise these terms as the service changes. The “Last updated” date records the latest revision. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain agreement to material changes.
