Which PDF tool should I use?

Merge PDF combines whole documents. Split PDF keeps a selected page range in a new PDF. PDF to JPG or PNG exports page images, while PDF to text reads existing selectable text. Choose the tool for the result you need before selecting a file.

Does PDF compression preserve searchable text?

xfiles compresses PDFs by rendering pages as compressed images. The exported PDF loses selectable text, form fields and links. Keep the original when those features matter. If the compressed result is larger, xfiles keeps the original file instead.

Can xfiles read text in a scanned PDF?

PDF to text and PDF to audio read selectable text already stored in a PDF. xfiles does not include OCR, so a scan containing only page images needs text recognition in another application first.

What are the PDF file limits?

The PDF file tools accept up to 150 MB of selected files in total. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Available browser memory can limit large documents even below the file-size limit. The resume builder uses a form and does not require an input file.
